Best apps to contact friends and family during social distancing

During the pandemic of Corona Virus as a precaution most people are trying to stay indoors and social distance themselves. Are you among those people? You can use some of the following socializing apps to stay in contact with everyone. Following is the list of apps and features of each app discussed below

WhatsApp:

WhatsApp is the best and most used app for socializing with your family, friends, and colleagues. All you need is the person's contact number to stay in touch. Sharing media and staying in contact is made easier. Moreover, the app allows the users to contact through chat, voice calls, and Video calls. It has more than $2 billion users. It lets you save bandwidth as well as it's encrypted.
The app is available on Android, iOS, Windows as well as Web Application.

Skype:

Skype is best for video and audio calling. It offers a messaging feature as well. It supports up to 50 people call on the same audio call. However, the number of callers depends on the user's device). It also lets you record, save and share your video calls. It also has live captions and subtitles.
The app is available on Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams allows you to connect with people in the team as well as individually. Moreover, it allows you to remove people from the teams, as well as from meeting. Teams allow us to mute a participant but it is only possible if you are meeting organizer. Teams allow us to schedule meetings, share media files and Record your lecture which remains stored on Microsoft servers.
The service is available on Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS.

Telegram:

Telegram is one of the best platforms for socializing, it allows you to contact friends, get updates on the go from big companies, influencers, etc. It also allows multimedia sharing as well as chat, audio calls, and video calls.
The app is available on Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, and Linux. It provides its service via web application as well.

Messenger:

Messenger developed by Facebook offers chat, audio, and video calls. The service only offers image sharing. It is mostly preferred by Facebook users. But service is good quality hence it is made into the top list.

Google Duo:

Duo, developed by Google, is a lightweight and easy to use the app. It has end-to-end default encryption. It allows group calls of up to 8 people. Duo accounts can be easily created using Google account (Gmail). It allows sending video and voice messages easily. It also works with smart displays. Just like WhatsApp it also has a data saver that lets you save bandwidth.

Discord:

Discord is a useful app for large groups. It has over 90 million users. You can create/join servers that can have multiple topics(channels) for discussion where everyone's access is restricted by admin. It allows video calls, audio calls as well as chat. Moreover, it allows you to share screens if you want to show them something from your screen (especially for educational purposes.) Moreover, people can't interact without knowing their unique account details.

Under COVID-19 situations using social platforms is better than socializing and stay in touch with your friends, family, colleagues. However, I personally love WhatsApp and Discord based on a simple interface and great service.
