How AntennaPod is different from Google Podcast
Recently Podcasts became really famous for gaining knowledge, information, learning history, getting weekly or daily news etc. There are multiple applications available for listening to Podcasts every app comes with many different features.
Podcast client really ensures how much you'll enjoy a Podcast so here is a comparison between AntennaPod and Google Podcasts.

Common features

  • Play online podcasts
  • Listen offline (Downloaded ones only)
  • Subscribe to podcasts
  • Check out new episodes
  • Add podcast by RSS feed
  • Listening History
  • Cloud backup

Differences

Sharing

Both applications allow sharing the podcast via other platforms but there is a major difference. Google Podcasts allow you to share a link that will link the receiver to Google Podcasts app/web app and will be able to listen their whereas AntennaPod allows us to share in 2 ways
  • Episode webpage
Lands on a webpage where you can see list of episodes as well as listen to the shared as well as other episodes
  • Media file address
User only gets the URL address of that specific Podcast file.

So, by no means you land on AntennaPod application.

Application type

AntennaPod is an open source application whereas Google Podcasts is a proprietary application developed by Google.

Portability across applications

Google Podcasts does not allow you to import/export your subscription list whereas AntennaPod allows you to import/export subscriptions using OPML file. That I consider to be a downside of Google Podcasts.

Compatibility across platforms

Google Podcasts app is available on Android, iOS and Web whereas AntennaPod is only available for Android devices.

Conclusion

Both services are useful and really good in their own ways. You can choose one based on your liking.
